Petr Písařík is evidently fascinated with spark, detail, the moment and fragments we don’t notice but which nevertheless form the basis of our experience. Our mind conveys these minute, first impressions to our consciousness as a continuum of experience. The fragility of a moment also demands its own form of presentation. Písařík searches for alternative languages spoken by colour and light, gluing beads and sequins. With this approach the author touches on one of the main characteristics of contemporary society which the great sociologist Zygmunt Bauman called liquidity. What was once considered a matter of course now faces the challenge and risk of change. This fragility of continuance may fill the world with uncertainty and anxiety, yet Písařík does not passively come to terms with a dark vision of the contemporary world, but rather appoints it with the aristocratic expression of his work. In this way a painting becomes the jewel of a space, not only in the sense of adornment, but also in the original meaning of the Greek “κόσμος.” Cosmos means a jewel as an ideal system, perhaps filled with divine principle, whose optimal nature forms the basis of permanence. In this context of aristocracy, Písařík pays homage to luxury. Not as mannerism or debauchery, but as a natural part of life representing permanence, allowing value to be stowed away and protected, a moment in liquid times.
