Artistic competition for the visualappearance of metros lines D, Railway station Krč ,Krč Hospital and Nové Dvory
Under the auspices of the NationalGallery, 5-6 artists across generations and artistic styles were approached tocreate a proposal for the final appearance of each station. The seven-memberjury, led by David Vávra, selected a winner who will work with the architectson the final appearance of the station’s interior. For the Nové Dvory stationfive artistic designs were presented from artists Adéla Součková, LukášRittstein, Michael Gabriel, Stanislav Kolíbal and Petr Písařík. Although atfirst there was no clear opinion among the jury as to which artist should beselected and a repeat of the competition was even considered, in the end Stanislav Kolíbal’s proposal won.
Petr Písařík’s proposal not onlyembarked on working with the station’s vault, but also on other elements in theinterior, including the security wall. His design was strong, asymmetrical andbrimming with countless ideas. David Vávra highlighted the idea of asymmetry asunique and pointed out that it provokes and inspires him to think about theoverall asymmetry of stations.
